Selecting The Best Cheap Copy Paper

Any business or individual knows the importance of using a large quantity of paper in order to document transactions or prepare messages.

Indeed, an office worker uses on average five pages of paper per hour, which is the equivalent of ten thousand pages in a single year. By comparison, a document can be copied twenty five times without losing any legibility.

A filing cabinet has enough space in it to store upwards of twenty five thousand dollars’ worth of paper, or nearly a quarter of a million sheets.

The end result is a constant need for cheap copy paper to fuel the business and personal world, and many companies have stepped up to the plate and released products that are not only practical, but also affordable for nearly any budget.

These companies are the major printer manufacturers – Hammermill, Inkjet, Hewitt Packard, etc. – and their paper is not only inexpensive but can be used on a wide variety of machines.

Although email technology is so advanced that Gmail and Yahoo! mail can afford to provide their customers with the equivalent of millions of mailed items saved on a storage file for free, nine out of ten business transactions require paper.

Decreasing the cost of this ideal for any business, as a “paperless office“, though certainly ideal in terms of efficiency and lowered bills, is not only difficult to implement but astonishingly expensive to carry out; nearly four decades of paperless procedures are required to make the switch pay for itself.

So then, what is the best means of finding cheap copy paper? Ultimately, a company or an individual must do a lot of homework to find the least expensive brand. Searching strictly by price can be beneficial, but may not return the quality of function of paper, such as glossy or graph paper, that is required for your needs.

The basic white paper that you will find in fax machines, printers and scanners is called multifunctional paper. This can be used for literally anything; it can be copied nearly three dozen times without losing legibility and function.

At the most basic cost, you can find multifunction paper for about a quarter of a cent for each sheet.

For more complex orders, however, you may have to bump up the quality. Multifunction paper will work in printers and fax machines, but copier paper is designed to be used solely by copying machines.

While you can certainly put it in a printer or fax, copy paper will not produce the same quality results. Likewise, inkjet and laser paper work well with their individual machines, inkjet printers and laser printers, respectively, but do not function as well in copiers.

If this task of selecting cheap copy paper from various sources gives you a headache, do not worry about it. Many companies manufacture all in one paper to be used in copiers, laser printers and inkjet printers simultaneously without sacrificing quality.

The only downside is that the cost is slightly higher: around half a cent per page. Hammermill Fore MP Copy/Laser/Inkjet Paper costs ten dollars for 500 sheets; HP Multipurpose Copy/Laser/Inkjet Paper costs seven dollars for 500 sheets.

Hammermill makes a specific laser printer paper, but it is not more expensive than the all in one, also costing ten dollars for 500 sheets. The choice of the best copy paper is about price and preference; while HP is cheaper, many find the versatility of Hammermill paper to be worth the extra money.
